Hi! I hope this write up could comfort the readers maybe not much but just a little. I understand if you felt lost after failing a paper (I've been there!) And I really hope no one will have to go through such a situation. Just know that it is okay, and it will be okay. That result does not define who you are and it is definitely not the end.
Here's my sharing of what I did that you may consider doing since you HAVE to retake the subject you once failed.
I took intersession. One subject costs you RM200 but it really helps. Intersession is like a short semester, it is 5 weeks long and you can only take 2 subjects the most. You might be wondering why? It's because if we were to register the repeated subject during an ongoing semester, it will be slightly burdensome because you will need to attend classes for that repeat subject(s) along with other subjects for that semester.
However, intersession has a limited number of students that can register for it. If you couldn't secure your place, it is okay. I know some friends who did that and they still aced it anyway! Honestly, only you know your capability. This write up is only to help you think of a way if you're feeling like you just hit a dead end.
Since I took intersession, during the ongoing (normal) semester, I didn't think of the failed subject for a while. I focused on subjects for that current semester ONLY. During intersession (it was during our semester break by the way), I get to direct my whole attention on the repeated subject and it's honestly the best decision I've made because I got to focus on one thing at a time. If you aced the repeated subject, it will bring up your CPGA back! So don't worry, failing subjects... is honestly normal especially in law school. It is not the end. It gives you a chance to do better! I hope this helps!
Either way, failing once or twice is not a problem at all since you can always catch up, through intersession or, just take it during the next semester (which will be A LOT). You can easily buck up from that temporary fall.
But! If let's say you fail too many times, you HAVE to consult a lecturer or academic advisor for that. The academic advisor will help you restructure your Jadual Pengajian so you can retake those papers and graduate. We have a senior, the legendary Rafiq Izzat who failed 18 times, he still managed to graduate from law school at the age of 25.
Read it here.
Well, don't let your failures stop you and don't let your grades define you. Especially when you are in law school. The answer that we give is opinion based and very subjective hence why it is hard to get perfect scores. It is dependant on the lecturers and your comprehension of the subject and your... menggoreng skills.
Anyhow, good luck in your future endeavours, future law graduates! Hope to see you at the end of the road.
Cheers,
ALSA UiTM.
